The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning from June 28, 10:00 AM MST until June 30, 08:00 PM MST.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM FRIDAY TO 8 PM MST

SUNDAY BELOW 4000 FEET...



THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FLAGSTAFF HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE

HEAT WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM FRIDAY TO 8 PM MST

SUNDAY.



* TEMPERATURE...NEAR RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES OF 114 TO 117

  DEGREES ARE FORECAST FOR FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY NEAR THE COLORADO

  RIVER INCLUDING PHANTOM RANCH. HIGH TEMPERATURES AROUND 110 DEGREES

  ARE EXPECTED AT INDIAN GARDEN NEAR 4000 FEET ELEVATION.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



THIS WARNING IS RESERVED FOR ONLY THE HOTTEST DAYS OF THE YEAR AND

IS ISSUED WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO RISE TO DANGEROUS

LEVELS. DAY HIKERS ON BRIGHT ANGEL TRAIL SHOULD DESCEND NO FURTHER

THAN 1 1/2 MILES. BETWEEN 10 AM AND 4 PM...PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IS

DISCOURAGED. HIKERS SHOULD ATTEMPT TO BE OUT OF THE CANYON...AT

INDIAN GARDEN OR BRIGHT ANGEL CAMPGROUND BETWEEN THESE HOURS. ALL

HIKERS SHOULD HAVE ADEQUATE GEAR...INCLUDING A WIDE-BRIMMED

HAT...SUNSCREEN...SALTY SNACKS...SUFFICIENT WATER AND ELECTROLYTE
